BasicLux Records was founded in 2002 with the goal of increasing the reach of the music we love and live with everyday and gaining exposure for the artists creating it. Beginning with NST, V1, we've tried to set a new standard for great songwriting and production in the deep house, nu jazz world, by offering a refined and sophisticated sound that we like to call new style lounge.

"New Style Lounge" is our term for an amalgamation of musical styles that combines the ethic of the original "Lounge Music" while incorporating complimentary contemporary elements such as nu jazz, deep house, downtempo and chill out. The artists of NST, like their predecessors, are breaking new ground using studio experimentation & technology while continuing to bring in live elements, carrying the torch forward while adding unique twists -- assuring that New Style Lounge will always be fresh and pertinent.

BasicLux has a clear mission of introducing new material, avoiding the recycling of tracks (as so many compilations seem to do today). Therefore, in addition to offering new music from some of the leaders in this genre, BasicLux actively seeks out the more underground and emerging artists. The listener can always count on something fresh and new.
