It seems the original queen of female rap is back, and she trying her hand at electronic music.

Roxanne Shante was big back in the 80s at just 14 years old with hits like “Roxanne’s Revenge” & “Go On Girl“. She was working with Big Daddy Kane and dissing other female rappers like Queen Latifah & MC Lyte on tracks back when I was still in diapers.

Now Basement Jaxx have released “Make Me Sweat“, a banging club track featuring her & Missy Elliot.

There is also a hardcore rave track floating around by Mekon on which Ms. Shante lends her voice to.

I guess that means that I am usually the first to listen to the thousands of new songs that we receive each month. Even more so, I am the first to get excited about some of that new content we get, — so here goes…

Seeming as this is my first blog post with PlayItTonight, I thought what better topic to start off with than “Blog House”.

“Blog House” was a term coined online which refers to the a type of music that has gained popularity mainly through its distribution through blogs. Most of that music falls under the French Electro, Nu Rave, Breakbeat, Baile Funk, and Synthpop type genres.

One of the bands who have gained some exposure through this new phenomenon are the Black Ghosts.

Made up of Simian’s Simon Lord and The Wiseguys‘ Theo Keating, the Black Ghosts have released “Any Way You Choose To Give It” which also offers up a bevvy of great remixes.
