Skeewiff are Alex Rizzo, Elliot Ireland, Peter Martin, Mista Dexter, Digby Fox. Founding members Alex and Elliot put the band together in 1997 and their out fit was spotted in early 1998 by London based label FSUK/Ministry of Sound off the back of a buzzing remix of Eminem on DMC records and Jeru the Damaga on white label. They honoured their 2 Eps and a single deal with the label which all shot to the top the Breaks and beats charts, secured playlists on Radio 1, XFM and got the band picked up a full European tour. The under lying love of love of Funk, 60s easy listening, Latin and other such quirkiness set in stone the bands direction. With the band now 5 members: Peter Martin (also Bass player for Jazz Master Courtney Pine) Dexter (ex - Brotherhood) studio recordings were developing to a new 'live' level. Live nights for the band had included rammed nights at Air/ Mass Club Brixton and Ministry of Sound's own club. Changes were made late 2000and the band have no decided to no longer play live as a band but to focus on studio recordings. The latest member to join Skeewiff is DJ Digby Fox. Digby holds the Skeewiff residencies at Luminous (Fluid) and Made in Brussels (Cave de la Chapelle / Belgium).
Studio recordings for the band come from the underground Holloway Road setups of Skeewiff. Main controllers Elliot and Alex are no strangers to recording with productions for Da Muttz (Whassup Warners UK) Shaft (Mucho Mambo, Mambo Italiano on Wonderboy/Universal) 10K (Love Works on PIAS), and Alison Limerick already under their belts.
Scouted earlier this year by Head On Management and with their debut album now completed the band are now back on the DJ'ing circuit. Twists on the tunes front come from PS2 taking a track from Skeewiff for Cool Boaders 2 and EA Sports taking a track for Premier Ship Managers.
'The album for us is a collection of tracks vibes and beats we play in clubs and love to perform.' Looking to the future Skeewiff have teamed up in the studio spawing upcoming collaborations with international stars Alison Limerick, the Young MC , Clide Stubberfield (James Browns original funky Drummer) and the Brotherhood.
